Welcome Home: Finding Community Through Apartment Resident Events

An apartment is more than just a home. It's also more than a collection of features and amenities. An apartment is truly part of a community, and a unique opportunity to get to know your neighbors. Many people wish they knew more people who live close by. Your next good friend could be living next door, upstairs, or two buildings over. Apartment events are the perfect place to meet.

Many apartment communities hold events throughout the year. Inspired by holidays and national food days, these events can take place in the clubhouse or office, by the pool, or out on the grassy lawn near the grills. Not only can you grab a tasty seasonal-themed snack, it's also a great opportunity to meet your neighbors who are doing the same.

At Ashton Pointe Apartments in Lubbock, TX, our team prides itself on putting together exciting resident events where people are encouraged to connect with their neighbors and make new memories. Lets take a deeper dive into resident events and how they can play a role in building community wherever you choose to call home.

What is an Apartment Resident Event?

A resident event is when apartment office staff throw a party for the residents. There may be music and activities. There might be a performance or a class. There will certainly be seasonal snacks. Apartment residents are invited to stop by during the event duration to enjoy thematic snacks and celebrate together.

Resident events can help you feel more connected to your apartment community, meet other residents, and have more fun every month. Most events last a couple hours on a specific day. Certain events, like a hosted food drive, may run for a week or more to give everyone time to participate.

In some cases, apartment resident events take place on social media, like a Halloween costume contest where residents participate by posting photos and stories instead of attending in person.

Becoming Part of the Community

Resident events aren't just for snacks. They are a chance for residents to meet each other and form a true community. It's nice to know your neighbors and meet people you can count on. You will definitely meet people who will greet you with a smile when you meet on the stairs or at the dog park. You might meet a few neighbors that share your interests and enjoy some fun conversation. You may even make a few new friends and begin a tradition of hosted dinners, movie nights, and more personal events shared between your households.

When an apartment hosts resident events, the goal is to build a community of neighbors and friends. The snacks are just the pretense.

How to Find Resident Events for Your Apartment

Many people live in an apartment community that regularly throws events but don't even realize it. This is because the announcements are often lost or missed. How do you know when there's going to be free snacks and an opportunity to mingle with neighbors?  There are a few handy places to look.

Apartment Community Newsletter

If your apartment publishes a monthly or quarterly newsletter, keep an eye out for event announcements. There is often a community calendar or a blurb about upcoming events. Aston Pointe shares a newsletter every month with details of any monthly events alongside helpful tips and a seasonal recipe.

Apartment Social Media Accounts

If you follow your apartment community's social media accounts, you may see event announcements and details, as well. Many modern communities keep an active social media presence and often share their developments, events, and plans through these public channels.

Online Community Calendar

Some apartment communities maintain a website or app with an online community calendar. You can check the calendar to see any upcoming events or even plan for events further in the future. There may also be links to flyers and other details for each event on the calendar.

Flyers Around the Property

It's not uncommon to see printed flyers posted in public places around the apartment buildings when an event is around the corner. Flyers get people's attention even if they aren't checking community resources and can make people aware of where to look for events and updates.

Office or Clubhouse Corkboard

You may also find event announcements posted in either the apartment office or the shared clubhouse, where people are more likely to pass through. These spaces are shared by all the residents.
